Pamela Hyman Obituary

Pamela G. Hyman passed away on the second of April 2018 at her home in Prospect, CT. She was born on January 15, 1944 in Danbury, CT to Albert and Mary Gillotti.

Pamela grew up in Danbury and graduated from Danbury High School 1961. After high school she attended Western CT State University and graduated Cum Laudi with a Masters in Social Work from Columbia University. She was the Clinical Supervisor for Catholic Family Services in Danbury. She then became the founding Executive Director of Operation Hope in Fairfield, CT where she tirelessly helped countless homeless people for ten years. She and her husband, Mel, then founded Professional Psychotherapy Associates in Milford which is still a highly regarded practice.

Pamela married Dr. Melvyn Hyman in 1983 in Danbury, CT and they were happily married for 34 years. She enjoyed gardening, watching basketball, reading, and above all else spending countless hours with her grandchildren. She also received numerous professional awards and certifications. Pam was a member of the National Association of Social Workers, NOW, and a founding member of The Women’s Center of Greater Danbury. Pamela was preceded in death by her brothers Robert and David, as well as her parents Mary and Albert.

Pamela is survived by her husband Melvyn Hyman of Prospect, CT; her son Jay Gillotti of Mercer Island, WA and his wife Debi; her son Donald Gillotti of Cheshire, CT and his wife Jean and their children Julia, Brenna, and Dylan; and by her sister Eva White of Danbury, CT and an extended family of cousins, nieces, and other relatives, coworkers, and beloved friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Danbury at 24 Clapboard Ridge Rd in Danbury, CT on Saturday April 7 at 11:30 am. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at the church prior to the services starting at 10:30.
