Mary Levanti Iasoni, 84, a longtime resident of Carmel, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. She was born in the Bronx, NY on January 24, 1934 to Irene (née Marzolini) and Ernest.
On October, 21, 1956, Mary married the love of her life, Alfred Iasoni, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in the Bronx. They spent the first several years of marriage dividing their time between their apartment on Arthur Avenue and Boynton Beach, FL. They moved to Carmel in 1962, where they raised their three daughters and spent the remainder of their lives.
Mary worked as a teacher’s aide for the North Salem School District for 20 years. She was a world traveler, an avid gardener, and a talented artist who enjoyed painting, sewing, and knitting. She served as group leaders for both the 4H Club and Girl Scouts for many years. Above all, Mary loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, all of whom will remember “Mimi” as the kindest woman they’ve ever known. As well as the best baker.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Alfred in 2013. She is survived by her three daughters, Irene Othmer (Richard) of Kent, Claudia Dworaczyk (JD) of Carmel, and Adriene Aull (Bobby) of Carmel; her eight grandchildren Jayne, Tommy (Melissa) & Alex Othmer, Wade & Livia Dworaczyk, and Hannah, Caroline, & Gwynne Aull; her brother John (Julie) of Rockville Centre, NY, as well as her niece, nephews, and many friends.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM on Monday, April 2nd at St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Ave, Carmel, NY.
