Angela Defazio Doutney passed away at home on Friday evening, September 15, 2017 surrounded by her devoted daughters. Angela was born on October 30, 1925 in Danbury, CT to the late Irene (Merante) and Orazio Defazio.
Angela worked as a telephone operator for SNET for many years. Her daughters are grateful that she was able to enjoy 30 healthy years of retirement. As a proud Italian, Angela’s life centered around family, friends, food and church. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Parish serving as a Eucharist minister, member of the Ladies Guild and Community Concerns Committee. She also volunteered at Dorothy Day Hospitality House.
Angela is survived by her three beloved daughters; Donna Doutney and her partner Louise Pelletier of Ocala, Florida, Ellen Doutney and Karen Doutney of Danbury. She is predeceased by her late husband, Thomas L. Doutney, her brother, Joseph, and sister Irene.
The family is very grateful to Angela's special caregivers, Gladys and Yomaira (her girl), as well as to the nurses and doctors who took such good care of her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday September 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Church (104 Main St, Danbury, CT 06810) with entombment to follow at the St. Peter Cemetery Mausoleum in Danbury, CT.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105).
